PREPARING THE BURGER
Cut the tomatoes into 16 slices. Peel the red onion and cut it into thin rings. Cook the bacon until golden brown on both sides on a medium-hot grill or in a pan, then set aside.
Form the meat into 4 patties, matching the size of the buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper, and brush with melted butter. Place on a medium-hot grill and cook for 3 minutes. Then flip the meat, brush again with butter, and cook for another 2 minutes. Finally, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cook for 1 more minute until the cheese melts. Transfer the cooked patties to a plate.
Cut the hamburger buns in half and toast them cut-side down on the grill.
Chef's tip
Do not overcook the meat! It should remain slightly reddish or pink inside, like a classic steak. This is the only way the burger will stay truly juicy.
