Ingredients
Preparation method
Preparation and tartar sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and a pinch of salt until smooth to get a silky tartar sauce. Peel the red onion and slice it into thin rings.
Cut the Trappist cheese into two finger-thick slices. Prepare three shallow bowls: measure the flour into the first, lightly beat the eggs with a pinch of salt in the second, and pour the breadcrumbs into the third.
Breading and frying until golden brown
Coat the cheese slices first in flour, then in beaten egg, and finally in breadcrumbs. For a secure coating and an irresistible crunch, dip them once more into the egg and breadcrumbs, pressing the double breading firmly onto the cheese.
Chef's tip
It is worth placing the breaded cheese slices in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before frying, so the crust fries up super crispy without the cheese leaking into the pan.
Add fresh lamb's lettuce or pickles to turn it into an even juicier, richer brunch dish.
