If possible, take the eggs out of the refrigerator at least half an hour before cooking so they reach room temperature.
Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan. You need enough water to just cover the eggs. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water with a spoon, and immediately start the timer. Reduce the heat, cover the saucepan, and cook the eggs for exactly 5 minutes. If the eggs were cold, add an extra minute.
Chef's tip
Try it with a little grated Parmesan on top, or experiment with smoked salmon and caviar for a truly luxurious experience.
