Preparation method
Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Prepare a baking sheet and line it with baking paper.
In a large bowl, mix together the spelt flour, brown cane sugar, butter, baking powder, egg, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Knead the mixture into a uniform dough. Place the prepared dough on the baking sheet, form it into a loaf about 1.5 cm high, and bake at 175–180 °C for 25 minutes.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and, using a bread knife, diagonally slice the loaf into pieces about 1 cm thick. Place the slices back on the baking sheet and bake for another 5 minutes at 175–180 °C. Then flip the slices and bake for another 5 minutes at the same temperature until golden brown and crispy.
Chef's tip
For an even more special taste experience, you can drizzle the finished biscotti with melted dark chocolate.
