  • 1 pc hamburger bun
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 2 leaves iceberg lettuce
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 2 rings red onion

For a good burger, you need quality beef, salt, and pepper. Form the meat into a patty slightly larger than the bun, and gently press down in the center to prevent it from bulging during cooking.

Place the room-temperature meat on a well-heated grill or pan brushed with a little oil. For medium doneness, cook for about 3 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the meat. Immediately after flipping, place the cheese slice on top so it melts nicely. Meanwhile, lightly toast the halved buns.

Spread mayonnaise, ketchup (or a mix of both) on the toasted bun, place the juicy patty on top, then layer with fresh tomato slices, red onion, and lettuce. Cover with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.

Chef's tip

Do not place the lettuce directly under the hot meat, as the heat will quickly wilt it.

Crispy fried bacon also goes perfectly with the burger. Cook it in a separate pan until golden brown.
