Ingredients
- 400 g minced beef
- 400 g minced pork
- 130 g red onion
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 100 ml milk
- 1 pc bread roll
- 2 cloves garlic
- 5 tablespoons lard for frying
- 2 tablespoons dried marjoram
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 800 g potatoes for the side dish
Steps
- 1Cut the bread roll into smaller cubes, place them in a bowl, and pour milk over them. Let them soak for a short while until well absorbed.
- 2Peel and crush the garlic, finely chop the red onion. Place the well-chilled minced pork and beef into a large bowl. Add salt, freshly ground pepper, garlic, red onion, marjoram, and finally the milk-soaked bread roll. Knead the mixture thoroughly.
- 3With wet hands, form medium-sized balls or patties from the meat mixture, then roll them in breadcrumbs. Gently press the breadcrumbs onto the meat.
- 4Heat the lard in a pan over medium heat, then fry the meatballs on both sides until golden brown and crispy.
- 5Tip: You can also mix a little crushed ice into the minced meat to make the meatballs even juicier and prevent them from falling apart. Keep the meat mixture and milk cold throughout for the best results. We recommend boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes as a side dish.
