Ingredients overview
- 8 large tomatoes
- 300 g minced beef
- 1 M-sized egg
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 stalks spring onion
- 10 g fresh basil
- 10 g fresh parsley
- 80 g cheddar cheese (red)
- 80 g sour cream (12%)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 sheet baking paper
Preheat the oven to 160 °C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Wash the tomatoes and cut them in half. Scoop out the insides with a spoon and place them in a medium bowl. Add the minced meat, crushed garlic, egg, chopped basil, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and try to remove as much excess liquid from the mixture as possible. Fill the tomatoes with the meat mixture.
Bake the tomatoes for 15 minutes at 160 °C. Then remove the tray, sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the tomatoes, and bake for another 5–10 minutes until the cheese melts. When serving, garnish with a spoonful of sour cream and sliced spring onion.
Chef's tip
If you want an even more intense flavor, use smoked cheddar cheese!
