Preparation method

Ingredients overview

For syrup and cocktail
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 2 cm Ginger
  • 3 pcs Fresh sage
  • 120 ml Vodka
  • 60 ml Orange liqueur
  • 175 ml Apple juice
  • 30 ml Lemon juice (100%)
  • 600 ml Soda water (carbonated mineral water)
For serving and garnish
  • 1 pc Apple
  • 1 pc Orange

Preparing the spiced syrup

1

Heat the honey and water together in a small saucepan over low heat until the honey completely dissolves. Add the thinly sliced fresh ginger and fresh sage leaves. Simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to release the flavors, then turn off the heat and allow to cool completely. Finally, strain the syrup through a fine sieve.

Assembling the pitcher spritz

2

Fill a large pitcher halfway with ice cubes. Pour in the strained, cooled ginger-sage syrup, vodka, orange liqueur, quality apple juice, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir thoroughly with a mixing spoon.

3

Top up the pitcher with cold, sparkling soda water and add the thinly sliced apple, orange slices (or orange peel), and a few fresh sage leaves. Stir gently, then pour into glasses filled with ice and serve this brilliant autumn cocktail immediately!

Chef's tip

Non-alcoholic mocktail: If you want to make a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and orange liqueur! Instead, use a little extra orange juice or spiced non-alcoholic ginger beer alongside the soda water.

Make-ahead for parties: The ginger-sage honey syrup can be made up to 3-4 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator in a sealed jar, so when guests arrive, filling the pitcher takes just a few moments.
