Ingredients overview
- 500 ml Sangria
- 80 ml Brandy
- 2 tbsp Granulated sugar
- 1 pc Orange
- 10 pcs Whole cloves
- 1 pc Whole cinnamon
- 1 pinch Ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch Ground nutmeg
In a small saucepan, add the sugar, cloves, whole cinnamon, a pinch of ground cinnamon, and a little freshly grated nutmeg. Mix well and let the sugar lightly caramelize.
Then add the brandy, the freshly squeezed juice of one orange, and finally pour in the sangria. Heat the mixture to boiling point, but as soon as the first bubbles appear, remove it from the heat. If you desire a more intense spicy flavor, you can let it simmer for a few more minutes on low heat.
Chef's tip
For a smoother taste, you can strain the drink before serving. Garnish the glasses with orange slices, apple, or berries (e.g., blackberries). Best enjoyed fresh and hot!
