Ingredients overview
- 200 g whole wheat spelt flour
- 50 ml olive oil
- 110 ml buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon ground poppy seeds
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Parchment paper for the baking sheet
Measure out the ingredients, then thoroughly knead them by hand on a pastry board or in a bowl until you get an elastic dough.
Wrap the dough in foil and place it in the refrigerator to rest for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. On a floured surface, roll out the rested dough to a thickness of approximately 2 mm. Use only enough flour for rolling so that the dough does not stick. Cut out desired shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake until golden brown for 18-20 minutes.
Chef's tip
Serve the crackers with homemade Liptauer cheese spread, hummus, or cream cheese. They will remain crispy for days in an airtight container.
