Ingredients
- 600 g puff pastry
- 400 g bacon
- 150 g cheddar cheese
- 10 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 pc egg
- 1 pinch black sesame seeds
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
Equipment
- 1 sheet baking paper
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat).
- 2Roll out the puff pastry into two identical rectangles, approximately 20x30 cm. Beat the egg with the picked thyme leaves and freshly ground pepper. Brush the pastry with this mixture, then sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese.
- 3Place another sheet of baking paper on top and gently press the cheese into the pastry (you can use a rolling pin or your hands). Remove the paper and cut the pastry into 2 cm wide strips.
- 4Cut the bacon slices in half lengthwise. Place a slice of bacon on each pastry strip, then fold the strips in half so that the bacon and cheese side is on the outside.
- 5Sprinkle the tops with black sesame seeds.
- 6Twist each strip a few times (like a spiral) and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Leave enough space between them. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
Tip
Serve warm with a glass of dry white wine or beer.
