Preheat the oven to 220 °C (top and bottom heat).

Roll out the puff pastry to about 3 mm thick, then cut it into strips about 3 cm wide along its shorter side.

Wash and dry the asparagus, then snap off the woody ends. Wrap each asparagus spear with a slice of cheese, then twist a strip of pastry around it in a spiral.
Chef's tip
There's no need to cut off the woody end of the asparagus with a knife: if you bend the spear, it will naturally break where the woody part begins.
