Ingredients overview
- 150 g minced beef
- 1 pc hamburger bun
- 1 slice cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 2 leaves iceberg lettuce
- 2 slices tomato
- 2 rings red onion
For a good burger, you need quality beef, salt, and pepper. Form the meat into a patty slightly larger than the bun, and gently press down the center, as it will swell during cooking.
Place the room-temperature meat on a hot, lightly oiled grill or pan. For medium doneness, cook for about 3 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the meat. After flipping, place the cheese slice on top to melt. Lightly toast the halved buns as well.
Spread mayonnaise, ketchup (or a mixture of both) on the bun, place the meat on top, then the tomato slices, onion, and lettuce. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Chef's tip
Do not place the lettuce directly under the hot meat, as it will wilt quickly.
You can also add crispy fried bacon slices to the burger for an extra flavor experience.
