Ingredients

  • 2 medium red onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 150 g celery stalks
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 400 g ground turkey meat
  • 30 g tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 400 g peeled chopped canned tomatoes
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 400 g dry spaghetti pasta
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

    Peel and finely chop the red onion and garlic. Clean the carrots and cut them into small cubes. Wash the celery stalks and also dice them finely.

    In a deep pan, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, garlic, carrots, and celery stalks, then sauté for 3-4 minutes. Then add the ground turkey meat and sauté for another 8-10 minutes over medium heat. Stir in the tomato paste, oregano, dried basil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, then sauté for another 3-4 minutes. Finally, reduce the heat, pour in 150 ml of water and the chopped canned tomatoes. Cook the sauce covered for 20-25 minutes.

    After the cooking time, taste the sauce and season with more salt and pepper if needed.

    Serve the finished Bolognese sauce with cooked spaghetti and Parmesan shavings. The sauce is excellent for freezing and can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.
