Grate the cheddar cheese on a large-holed grater. Dice the red onion finely, and clean the broccoli and separate it into small florets.
Crush the garlic, then sauté it with the chopped onion in a large pot with olive oil until translucent. Pour in the broth, cream, and lemon juice.
Add the broccoli florets and dry pasta to the pot. Mix well and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes, until the pasta is tender and the sauce thickens.
