The word "kifli" is derived from the German word "Kipfel", which in turn comes from the Latin word "cippus". It means "stake, pole", probably referring to the shape of the pastry. JÓkenyér kiflis are made from traditional milk dough, with their own sourdough and long ripening technology. After rolling out, we roll up the dough and shape it into a crescent shape. The long resting time of the dough not only allows the flavors to blend sufficiently, but also contributes to the fact that the delicacy made in this way stays fresh for longer.

JÓkenyér started as a family business and has been working for 27 years to ensure that fresh, sourdough, additive-free bakery products are on the table of as many people as possible. They pay special attention to making their breads and bakery products from 100% natural ingredients. They believe that what is needed for good bread is the gift of nature and the heart and soul of the baker. That is why they avoid flavor enhancers, additives and colorings. To this day, they work with the sourdough that they brought home from Baden-Baden almost 30 years ago with the aim of creating the foundations of the German "Brotkultur", which is part of the world heritage in Hungary. In addition to traditional wheat sourdough, JÓkenyér also uses rye sourdough and sourdough made from whole wheat and rye, for which the grain is freshly ground in their own mill. This ensures the freshness and taste of their breads.
