Preparation method
Cut the hot dogs lengthwise halfway, making sure they remain in one piece. Slice the red onion into thin rings.
Heat the olive oil in a pan, add the onion with a pinch of salt, and caramelize over low heat until golden brown.
Meanwhile, grill or pan-fry the hot dogs on all sides until nicely browned. Lightly toast the hot dog buns on their cut sides.
Chef's tip
The cream cheese should be at room temperature, making it much easier to spread on the hot bun.
If you don't like it too spicy, remove the jalapeño seeds before slicing.
