Preparation method
Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
Line an oven-safe pan with baking paper, add the butter, and melt it over low heat.
Spread Dijon mustard on one side of the bread slices. Place them in the heated pan with the spread side facing up. If the pan is not large enough, prepare the sandwiches in batches.
Chef's tip
Variation: add sliced ham, crispy bacon, or tomato slices.
Sweet and savory variation: drizzle with a little honey or spread with cranberry jam when serving – both pair wonderfully with cheeses.
Extra crispiness: mix the butter with a little grated Parmesan, and spread this on the outside of the bread before toasting.
