Interesting facts

One of our oldest cultivated plants, this herb originating in Asia is grown and consumed almost everywhere in the world. It is very low in calories. For centuries, red onions have been used for medicinal purposes, both externally and internally.

Use

It can be used primarily to flavour soups, stews and meat dishes, but it can also be used to make stand-alone dishes and can be added in many ways to salads, cold dishes and pickles.

French onion soup or fried onions are piquant dishes - they do not have a strong smell at all, so they can be consumed without worry.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool place, between 5-10 °C.
