Description
Yellow, yellowish-green, bronze or orange, edible fruit is ovoid or elliptical, 10–15 centimeters long pod. The 4–6 strongly protruding longitudinal ribs make its cross-section star-shaped, making it an extremely decorative fruit; it is often used to decorate salads and cocktails, for example. In addition, it is rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins such as A and C, so feel free to consume it.

Interesting fact
The flesh of the fruit is firm and glassy, its sweet and sour taste, varying from slightly sour to very tart, is somewhat reminiscent of quince. It often has no seeds.
Use
In Europe, star fruit is mainly known as sliced fruit salads or as a decoration for cold platters, but in Asia it is used in a variety of ways. Lightly salted, it is an excellent thirst quencher, but it is also consumed sweetened, raw or cooked, candied or as jelly. Its juice gives cocktails a sourish character.
