Kiwi gold

The fruit is slightly flattened, egg-shaped, brown on the outside, and yellow on the inside. It contains many small seeds, which are edible. The yellow-fleshed kiwi is called gold kiwi, has a softer texture and a sweeter taste.

It can be consumed fresh, raw, in soups, creams, drinks, salads, steamed in the form of compote, or even preserved as jam.

Interesting facts

It contains a very large amount of actinidin, vitamin C, fiber, potassium, chlorophyll, chlorogenic acid, and lutein.

Its original name is YangTao, which means Chinese gooseberry. It first became popular in New Zealand, where it was named after the national bird, the kiwi. Since then, the whole world has known it by this name.

Storage

Unripe kiwis should be stored at room temperature, while ripe kiwis should be stored in the refrigerator at 5-8 °C.
