Description
The skin of the Hass avocado ripens from green to deep purple or almost black. Although the skin is thick, it is relatively easy to peel. The flesh closest to the skin is pale green, becoming more yellow towards the medium-sized central stone. The flesh is soft, creamy, barely fibrous and has a good oil content. Its flavour is rich and nutty, with a slightly sweet finish.

The Hass avocado originated in California. Almost every Hass avocado in the world can be traced back to the original Hass mother tree, which was planted in California in the 1920s and which gave rise to millions more trees before it died in 2002.
Use
Excellent cream instead of butter for spicy sandwiches; for example, on toasted bread, or mashed with a little lemon juice. Its B vitamins help brain cells produce sleep hormones. Store ripe avocados in the refrigerator, harder ones at room temperature.

Store in a dry, cool place, between 4-8 °C.
