Titbit Rambutan 100g

Characteristics

Rambutan is a round or oval, green-pink to crimson fruit, 3-6 cm in size, covered with long, soft spines, which turn black at the tip in older fruits. Under the three-part, firm but brittle skin is a juicy, glassy yellow-white flesh with a pleasant sweet-sour, aromatic flavour. In the middle of the fruit is usually an oval, shiny brown, 2-3 cm seed. The fruit is very similar in appearance and taste to lychee, which is however more pronounced in rambutan.
The fruits retain their best quality when harvested with twigs and left on them for as long as possible. The fruits are sensitive to bruising and damage, and have a relatively short shelf life.
