Varga Zweigelt-Cabernet Sauvignon semi-sweet
Just like the youngest brother in Hungarian folk tales acquires the kingdom, the Zweigelt variety gained market popularity for the Varga Winery. It started from a disadvantageous position, as it was not known in Hungary in the 1980s and was not sold in bottles. It originates from Austria, and due to its German name, it was overshadowed by traditional Hungarian and French grape varieties for a long time. The Varga Winery was among the first, if not the first, to start selling it. Its excellent qualities, strong flavours and fruity character may be the reason why it has become one of their most popular products. Blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, they were able to enrich the wine in tannins and aromas without losing the fruity character typical of the variety. Its colour is crimson, its aroma and flavour are reminiscent of sour cherries, and its acids, tannin and sugar content are in perfect harmony.

Producer information
Péter Varga started working in the Badacsonyörs winery on 4 January 1993 with his wife and parents. Today, he works with his two sons and hopes that they will later continue the winery with his grandchildren. Over the past 20 years, Hungarian viticulture has been fundamentally renewed professionally and technologically, and the quality of wines has reached Western European standards. In parallel with this, the demands of consumers have also developed and changed a lot. Today, people drink less and rather taste wines; they look for the interesting and the special. They no longer drink only the wines of nearby wine regions, but are able to get acquainted with the wine selection of the country, Europe and even the whole world. Therefore, it is not enough to make beautiful, balanced wines, but wines are needed that leave a mark on the consumer, that they will remember and will choose again from the thousands of items on offer.
