Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg mixed smoked meat
  • 20 dkg pearl barley
  • 1.5 kg sauerkraut
  • Sour cream for serving
  • Fresh sourdough bread for serving

    Place half of the cabbage in the bottom of a large pot and sprinkle with half of the pearl barley.

    Add half of the meat on top of this, then repeat this once more, but leave some cabbage for the top.

    Then pour in enough water to cover it and simmer until tender on the stove, or even better, in the oven or a traditional oven, for about 2-3 hours.

    When serving, take a mix of everything.

    You can also use smoked sausage if you like. Instead of pearl barley, it can also be made with beans.
