Initially, the company's main profile was sauerkraut, but with this product alone they could not have remained competitive in the long run, so expanding the company's product range became a key issue in terms of survival. In 1984, the Csemege Trade Network opened its first grocery store in Budapest in the Sugár shopping center. For the first time in Hungary, pickles could be purchased here in polyethylene bags. Within a few years, packaged sauerkraut was available in eighteen stores of the delicatessen chain. Until 1998, the owners also carried out production activities, producing the raw material for processing. Due to the seasonal nature of pickles, raw material production took place in the summer and processing in the winter. The pickle factory basically produces two types of products: primarily sauerkraut, and secondarily pickles made from various vegetables. In addition to classic pickles, the company is constantly developing and brainstorming to produce other special products.
