Preparation method
Preparation and assembling the mixture
Cut or tear the 300 g of stale white bread into smaller cubes, place them in a deep bowl, and pour the 250 ml of lukewarm milk over them. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the bread absorbs the liquid, then thoroughly mash it with your hands or a fork into an even mixture.
In a small pan, sauté the finely chopped onion in 1 tablespoon of oil until translucent, then remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Add the sautéed onion, 3 crushed cloves of fresh garlic, 2 eggs, 100 g of grated Trappist cheese, and the finely chopped parsley to the soaked bread mixture.
Chef's tip
Tip: They turn out just as delicious made from leftover stale bread rolls or crescent rolls; you only need to adjust the amount of liquid to the dryness of the bakery product.
Tip: You can also bake the bread patties in an oven or an air fryer at 190 °C for about 15-20 minutes, which uses less oil and makes them even lighter.
