Ingredients

  • 60 ml Bourbon whiskey
  • 4 sprigs fresh mint
  • 17 g granulated sugar
  • 20 ml still water
  • crushed ice to taste

    First, prepare the simple syrup. In a small saucepan, combine equal amounts of water and sugar, then stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture slightly thickens. Let it cool completely. (Leftover syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month.)

    Fill a glass (preferably a metal julep cup or a sturdy glass) halfway with crushed ice.

    Add 4 cl of the prepared simple syrup, place the mint sprigs, and pour in 60 ml of bourbon whiskey.

    Stir thoroughly, then fill the glass with the remaining crushed ice. Garnish with fresh mint and serve with a straw.
Tip
Use a metal cup, as it retains cold better and the crushed ice will beautifully freeze onto its outer surface.
