Old Amsterdam (Westland Kaas) has a smooth texture, a strong and rich flavour, not dry and salty like an average Gouda. Dutch hard fatty cheese. It carries an impeccable balance between salty and sweet flavours thanks to the crystals that form during the ripening process. This makes Old Amsterdam an indispensable element of cheese platters, an excellent accompaniment to fruits, biscuits, traditional breads and of course wines.

About the brand
After losing their jobs, Gerrit and Lambert Westland, who had always been fishermen, decided to start trading cheese in South Holland. In 1936, the brothers joined forces and founded Westland Bros. They were so successful that by 1950 they were also appearing on foreign markets. The company has remained a family business ever since: five generations of family members are now working to ensure the company's success. Westland Kaas's most important brands are Maaslander, Westlite/Westlife and Old Amsterdam.
