Producer information
The history of Nutella is an inspiring story of love and passion, which, combined with the careful selection and processing of ingredients, resulted in a unique and unparalleled product. Today, many families around the world start their day with a smile and spreading Nutella. Nutella was originally a clever answer to a difficult problem: the cocoa shortage after World War II. Pietro Ferrero, an Italian pastry chef from Piedmont, created a sweet, spreadable cream from hazelnuts, sugar, and a little cocoa - which was very rare at the time. He shaped the paste into a loaf - which could later be sliced and placed on slices of bread. He named the delicacy 'Giandujot', after a famous carnival character of the time. The Ferrero company was officially founded on May 14, 1946.
