Granadilla

Freshly picked ripe fruits, flown in directly from Colombia!

Its natural habitat is in the tropical highlands of South America, at an altitude of 800–2500 m. It is sensitive to high heat, but also does not tolerate frost well; otherwise, it is a relatively undemanding plant. 

Its fruit is the sweet granadilla fruit. It is wide and egg-shaped, narrowing at the bottom to the stem. The inner seed coat is glassy, transparent or yellowish, its flavour is juicy, sweet, only slightly sour and has a weak aroma. The tiny brownish-black seeds are also edible!
The vibrant orange, oval fruits have a diameter of 5-6 cm.

Use 

It is not necessary to use a knife, you can simply open the outer skin by hand, just like an orange.
Peel until you reach the jelly-like inner flesh. Then scoop it out gently and you can eat it! 
It is recommended to sweeten it with sugar, so it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to weeks. 
It is usually used in puddings, yoghurt desserts, fruit salads. 

Storage

Store in a dry, cool place, between 10-12 °C. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
