Black figs are medium to large in size, their skin is very dark, purplish-black, and their flesh is honey-sweet. They ripen from July to October.

The fig is one of the oldest cultivated plants. Its original home is the Mediterranean region, but today its main growing areas are in Spain, France, Turkey, and California.
