Cauliflower is similar to broccoli, consisting of tightly bound florets that form a dense head. The classic tree-shaped florets sprout from stalks that are attached to a central white stem. The stalks and stem are firm and crisp, while the florets have a dense yet tender and crumbly texture. Its flavour is mild, with subtle cruciferous and nutty-sweet notes that become more pronounced when roasted. The entire cauliflower, including the leaves, stem, stalk, and florets, is edible.

Interesting fact

It originates from the eastern Mediterranean region. Its consumption only became widespread in Hungary after the turn of the century.

Use

On hot summer days, it is a truly tempting choice when steamed and added to a salad. If you are in the mood for a classic dish, you can also make fried cauliflower or cauliflower soup.

Storage

Store in a dry, cool place, between 5-10°C.
