About the brand

The production of Karaván cheese is based on decades of tradition. To this day, the producer smokes its cheeses with real beech wood, which makes the taste of Karaván synonymous with smoked cheese. Sliced Karaván cheese is ideal for making sandwiches, lending them a special smoky flavour.

The Karaván brand, established in 1955, is the most well-known traditional Hungarian smoked cheese, made using a traditional smoking process. The raw cheeses are placed on smoking trolleys and then moved into the smokehouse. Here, at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, Karaván cheese develops its characteristic old-gold coloured rind and fine, spicy flavour. An interesting fact about its production is that it is made using a genuine smoking method, smoked with beech wood logs without the addition of artificial flavours. Its texture is melt-in-your-mouth, softly creamy, yet easy to slice.

Retains its quality when stored between +2 and +8°C.
