About the brand

The production of Karaván cheese is based on decades of tradition. The manufacturer still smokes its cheeses with real beech wood, which makes the taste of Karaván synonymous with the taste of smoked cheese. Sliced Karaván cheese is ideal for making sandwiches, giving them a special smoky flavour.

The Karaván brand, born in 1955, is the most well-known traditional Hungarian smoked cheese, made using a traditional smoking process. The raw cheeses are placed on smoking trolleys and then moved into the smokehouse. Here, at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, the Karaván cheese develops its characteristic old-gold coloured rind and fine, spicy taste. An interesting fact about its production is that it is made using a real smoking method, smoked with beech wood logs without the addition of flavourings. Its texture is easily melting in the mouth, softly creamy, yet easy to slice.

Retains its quality when stored between +2 and +8°C.
