The history of Dr. Oetker dates back to 1891: this is when pharmacist Dr. August Oetker tested the baking powder, which is now considered a classic. The company's headquarters are still located in Bielefeld, but Dr. Oetker products are available in 40 countries outside Germany. The European and overseas organizations employ nearly 8,000 people. Throughout the company's more than 100-year history, the Oetker family has always played an active role in the management of the company.
