Description

Fun facts
It is a shrub native to North America, with frosty-looking, blackish-blue berries. (It can also be found in Hungary: in Vas county and the forests around Sopron.) It contains a lot of iron, vitamins A, D, and C, and tannic acid; its fruit and leaves are widely used in folk medicine.
Uses
They are great made into fruit wine, liqueur, syrup, or tea, or even eaten on their own. It is a fruit high in pectin, making it a good base for jam, and can be used to naturally thicken runny jams made from fruits with lower pectin content.
