Coca-Cola is the most popular and widely sold soft drink of all time, and one of the world's most recognized brands. Dr. John S. Pemberton's invention, introduced in Atlanta, Georgia in 1886, was first available at the soda fountain of Jacob's Pharmacy, where Coca-Cola syrup was mixed with carbonated water. The patent for Coca-Cola was registered in 1887, the brand was trademarked in 1893, and by 1895, it was sold throughout the entire United States. In 1899, Coca-Cola began franchise bottling in the United States, and in 1906, international expansion of bottling commenced.

About the brand

In 1886, John Pemberton, a pharmacist from Atlanta, created the syrup that serves as the base for the world-famous soft drink. The brand has always been known for its surprising moves; for example, Coca-Cola was the first to feature people of color in its advertisements and was the first product to appear on the cover of the American Time magazine. Sport plays an exceptionally important role in the brand's life; since 1928, it has been the oldest sponsor of the modern Olympic Games, and an official FIFA and UEFA supporter.
