Whisk(e)ys from around the world

Whisky (in American English and Irish dialects, whiskey) is a distilled spirit made from the fermentation and distillation of grains, followed by aging in wooden barrels, usually oak. The grains used are typically barley, malted barley, corn, wheat, rye, or malted rye.

One of the world's most popular whisky regions is Scotland, where the most important ingredient in whisky production is barley. According to Scottish law, the drink can be called whisky if it has been aged in oak barrels for at least three years and has an alcohol content of at least 40%.
