Old Amsterdam Cheese Cubes

Old Amsterdam (Westland Kaas) has a smooth texture, a powerful and rich flavour, not dry and salty like an average Gouda. It has a fine, full flavour and is easy to slice. It carries an impeccable balance between salty and sweet flavours thanks to the crystals that form during the ageing process. This makes Old Amsterdam an indispensable element of cheese platters, an excellent accompaniment to fruits, biscuits, traditional breads and of course wines.

After losing their jobs, Gerrit and Lambert Westland, who had always been fishermen, decided to go into the cheese trade in South Holland. In 1936, the brothers joined forces and founded Westland Bros. They were so successful that by 1950 they were also appearing on foreign markets. The company has remained a family business ever since: five generations of family members are now working to ensure the company's success. Westland Kaas's most important brands are Maaslander, Westlite/Westlife and Old Amsterdam.
