Rödel filleted sardines marinated in extra virgin olive oil have a rich aroma and delicate texture.

Prepared annually in the traditional way with every fresh seasonal catch, the sardines are hand-cleaned, their bones are manually removed, then dried and fried in vegetable oil. After this, they are drained for at least 2 hours to make them more digestible. Finally, they are hand-canned and then covered with cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil.

Through this ancient, manual preparation method, they bring you the best of the sea's flavours and the nutritional benefits of sardines.

About the brand

Maison Rödel, founded in 1824, dates back to the beginnings of the food preservation industry. At the beginning of the 19th century, Nicolas Appert, a chef, invented a modern process for preserving fresh food. The government was interested in this discovery and in 1824 established the first cannery in the naval stores in Bordeaux, then entrusted the management of the factory to Charles Désiré Rödel, who was his former student.

The first canned goods were intended for ship captains. Some were used by the crew, and others were sold in the distant areas they visited. Thus, sailors became the first representatives of the Rödel house. Since then, the Rödel brand has continuously increased its reputation, and today offers a variety of sardines, mackerel, tuna, seafood, vegetables, jams, and other selected products, chosen with the utmost care.
