Made according to the original, secret family recipe from 70 years ago. Made exclusively from the best Hungarian ingredients, here in Hungary. Completely free of preservatives and additives. Pasteurized, and just like in the old days, filled into glass jars. The special and popular flavor of REX Ketchup comes from the tomatoes ripened by the summer sun of the Great Hungarian Plain and the finest spices. A real biker, never starts grilling without it, but also turns pasta dishes, hot sandwiches, and hamburgers into special gourmet dishes.

Producer information

From the first sample production in 1939, product samples and offers were immediately sent to Swedish, Swiss, and Czech wholesale companies. Jusztika's own developed recipe, paired with the excellent quality Hungarian tomato concentrate, went well with the Swedish cold fish salads and dishes.
The Swedes also compared REX ketchup with the leading brands (Heintz, etc.) with laboratory tests and found it to be the best. Thus, they received immediate Swedish orders. However, - as it usually happens - the offered purchase price was below the cost price! Since the war had started and the Hungarian National Bank was in great need of hard currency, it granted a 117% export subsidy to Reiter Albin's Örkény tomato processing plant.

Ketchup was not very well known in Hungary, not even in hotels. It got in when Albin's Swedish business partners demanded ketchup from the head waiter of the Gellért Hotel for their dinner, who was told that they did not understand why it was not on the table, since they had been buying REX ketchup from Örkény, Hungary for years, along with half of Europe. So, until the end of the war, the use of Hungarian hotels also started to mean business.

Storage

Store at room temperature, refrigerate after opening. Shake before use!
