Grand Tokaj is one of the most significant domestic wineries owned by the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation, which - as the largest winery in the historic Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is the guardian and developer of the national winemaking tradition.

At their Tolcsva wine center and on their own vineyards, their main activities are primarily grape production and purchasing, as well as winemaking and sales. The winery, which has 67 hectares of vineyards, is also a prominent player in their wine region: the wines produced here account for about 35% of the region's total wine production.

As an integrator in the region, in cooperation with winegrowers who have been working with them for years, they currently purchase strictly controlled quality grapes from approximately 670 hectares of productive land.

The wines of their winery, representing a renewed spirit, are made under the direction of Károly Áts, a winemaker who won the Winemaker of the Year award in 2012 and the Winemaker of Winemakers award in 2020, and who has been the company's chief winemaker since 2013.
