Nasodren nasal spray effectively relieves the pressure and pain caused by sinusitis. It clears and drains the accumulated secretion from the sinuses. Relief from the first dose.
Patient information
Prevalin Nasodren nasal spray contains cyclamen extract, which treats sinusitis at its root with its 2 effective physiological effects. It reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa and sinuses, and also clears the airways, while helping to drain the secretion. It has a double effect:
Local osmotic effect: reduces the swelling of the nasal mucosa and sinuses and clears the airways.
Reflex effect: restarts the normal fluid outflow, so that the secretion can drain from the sinus.
1. What is Prevalin Nasodren and what diseases is it used for?
Prevalin Nasodren nasal spray is used to treat and relieve the symptoms of the following diseases of the nose, paranasal sinuses and middle ear:
Acute or chronic recurrent inflammation of the paranasal sinuses (rhinosinusitis): catarrhal or purulent maxillary rhinosinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis, sphenoiditis or combined paranasal sinusitis.
Acute or purulent secretory or chronic secretory or purulent otitis media.
In the care after surgical intervention on the nose or paranasal sinuses.
Prevalin Nasodren is used to locally relieve symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, loss of smell and facial pain. It clears and drains the remaining mucous secretion in the paranasal sinuses and upper respiratory tract. Even its first dose quickly relieves the symptoms.
In case of otitis media, the accumulated secretion is quickly drained, which reduces earache and eliminates hearing loss.
2. What you need to know before using Prevalin Nasodren
Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to cyclamen, primrose and other plants belonging to the Primulaceae family, which can lead to swelling of the nasal mucosa, eyelids and/or face.
Warnings and precautions when using Prevalin Nasodren:
Avoid inhaling the spray when applying.
Only one spray should be sprayed into each nostril per day.
Contact with the eyes must be avoided. In case of contact with the eyes, irritation and symptoms of acute conjunctivitis may occur.
Mild and transient itching or burning sensation, sneezing and tearing, or increased nasal discharge may occur a few minutes after use. This is a completely normal phenomenon and occurs when Prevalin Nasodren begins to take effect and indicates an optimal response to the product's effectiveness. Therefore, the treatment should not be discontinued.
There may be a few drops of blood in the nasal discharge, but this is not a cause for concern.
If you are taking any medicines: Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently or recently taking or have taken any medicines, including over-the-counter medicines.
Other nasal preparations can be used 1.5-2 hours after using Prevalin Nasodren.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding: Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Prevalin Nasodren.

Use of Prevalin Nasodren in children:
Prevalin Nasodren can be used in children aged 5 years and older.
Driving or operating machinery: It is not advisable to drive or operate machinery for 2 hours after using the spray, as Prevalin Nasodren releases and drains mucus.
3. How to use Prevalin Nasodren:
Prevalin Nasodren is for nasal use only.
How to prepare the solution:
- Open the powder ampoule (A vial) by unscrewing the cap counterclockwise and removing the stopper.
- Open the plastic ampoule containing the water ("B" vial) by breaking off the top of the ampoule.
- Transfer all the liquid to the vial containing the powder.
- Screw the spray nozzle onto the vial and shake gently until the powder dissolves. Wait until the foaming disappears.
- Remove the protective cap from the spray nozzle.
- Before first use, press the spray nozzle 2-3 times into the air, preferably away from your body, making sure that the spray does not get into your eyes!
How to use Prevalin Nasodren®:
- Hold your head upright without tilting it forward or sideways. Insert the spray nozzle into your right nostril. Hold your breath for a short time (3-5 seconds) and spray the solution into your right nostril by pressing the spray nozzle once. Blow out the air once through your mouth, then breathe normally. Do not breathe in while spraying!
- Then repeat the same procedure for your left nostril as described in point 7.
- Clean the spray nozzle with a clean tissue. Replace the protective cap on the nozzle.
How much Prevalin Nasodren to use:
The solution should be sprayed into both nostrils only once a day, preferably at the same time each day, approximately 2 hours before bedtime. Increasing the daily dose does not result in increased effect.
When using Prevalin Nasodren, you will experience an intensive drainage of the accumulated secretion in the nose and paranasal sinuses, which can last up to two hours. As a result, the headache or facial pain often associated with nasal congestion will quickly disappear.
How long to use Prevalin Nasodren:
Normally, the treatment lasts for 7-10 days, but if necessary, it can be extended to 14 days. Significant improvement or complete disappearance of symptoms is achieved with 6-8 applications; however, the headache often associated with the condition may decrease or disappear completely after 3-5 applications of Prevalin Nasodren. Nevertheless, the treatment should be continued for the recommended 7-10 days.
If symptoms worsen after 5 days or do not improve within 10 days, consult your doctor.
If repetition of treatment is necessary in severe or chronic cases, this should only be started 7-10 days after the end of the previous treatment.
If you have used more Prevalin Nasodren than you should:
Overdosage of Prevalin Nasodren may cause intense burning sensation in the nasal-pharyngeal space, but this has no serious consequences. In case of accidental overdose, it may be helpful to rinse your nasal cavity through your nostrils with warm water and gargle with warm water.
If you forget to use Prevalin Nasodren spray:
If you miss a dose, continue treatment the next day as recommended.
If you stop using Prevalin Nasodren:
Do not stop treatment earlier than described in the instructions for use, as you will not achieve the expected results. Similarly, do not use Prevalin Nasodren spray for longer than described here.
4. Possible side effects:
Like all products, Prevalin Nasodren can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most reactions (e.g. sneezing, burning sensation, tearing, headache) occurred due to the specific mechanism of action and are a manifestation of a positive response to the product. A doctor should be consulted if tearing or salivation lasts for more than 2 hours.
If any of the side effects become serious, or if you experience any side effects not listed in the instructions for use, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.
