When Giulia Buitoni pawned her necklace in 1827 to pay for her first pasta machine, little did she know that her recipes would one day be enjoyed by people all over the world. But thanks to tireless ingenuity and an unwavering commitment to exceptional ingredients, that's exactly what happened.

The Buitoni story began in the small Tuscan town of Sansepolcro, Italy, where Giulia and her husband, Giovan Battista Buitoni, opened a pasta shop in November 1827. Their pasta quickly became the talk of the town thanks to Giulia's secret ingredient: the finest durum wheat, which she sourced from a town 600km away. Only this specific durum wheat would do, and Giulia refused to settle for anything less than the very best.

Over the years, Buitoni has found its way onto family tables all over the world, but the commitment to quality and innovation on which it was founded has never wavered. They believe – as Giulia did – that great, simple ingredients and culinary expertise create the very best Italian food.
