Grand Tokaj Tokaji Aszú 5 puttonyos

Its aroma is very complex. Due to the aszú berries, it is characterized by botrytis, peach, orange peel and praline, fig and exotic flowers, with a little dill at the end. When tasted, its flavour is very pure fruitiness, with notes of orange, quince, pear and apricot, but white chocolate and vanilla flavours also appear in it. The acids keep the wine round and long. At the end, a lime and grapefruit finish and the coffee and ripe taste resulting from barrel ageing fill our mouths for a long time. A great Tokaj wine with great potential, facing a long development phase.

Producer information

Grand Tokaj is one of the most significant domestic wineries owned by the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation, which - as the largest winery in the historic Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is the guardian and developer of the national winemaking tradition.

At their Tolcsva wine centre and their own vineyards, their main activities are primarily grape production and purchasing, as well as winemaking and sales. The winery, which has 67 hectares of vineyards, is also a prominent player in their wine region: about 35% of the region's total wine production is made up of the wines produced here.

As an integrator of the region, they currently purchase strictly controlled quality grapes from about 670 hectares of productive land in cooperation with winegrowers who have been working with them for years.

The wines of their winery, which represent a renewed spirit, are made under the direction of Károly Áts, the winemaker who won the Winemaker of the Year award in 2012 and the Winemaker of Winemakers in 2020, and who has been the company's chief winemaker since 2013.
