What does Demeter certification mean?

The Demeter certification for food has the same function as the well-known organic certification. However, obtaining Demeter certification has stricter conditions for crop and animal husbandry than organic certification. The operation of Demeter farms is centred around circular farming. This means that only as many animals are kept as are necessary to sustain crop production. Cow manure is used to fertilise plants, and plants serve to feed animals and humans. Only natural materials are used to fertilise, feed, and care for the animals. Therefore, Demeter products are not only good for our bodies and our children's bodies but also benefit our environment and the animal kingdom. This farming method increases soil fertility, supports biodiversity, and animal welfare. All of this contributes to the preservation of nature for future generations and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.
