Description
Green beans originate from Central and South America, where there is evidence that they have been cultivated in Mexico and Peru for thousands of years. They differ from many other bean varieties in that green beans are harvested and consumed along with their enclosing pod before the bean seeds inside are fully mature.
A similar practice is the harvesting and consumption of the immature pods of peas, as is done with snow peas or sugar snap peas.

Recommendation for use
They can be consumed raw or steamed, boiled or baked. They are often cooked into other dishes, such as soups, stews and ragouts. Green beans can also be pickled, similar to cucumbers.
Producer information
The Organic Kingdom organic farm is located in Kölcse, in the heart of the Szatmár region, in an untouched, less-explored natural environment. The Szatmár region is often referred to as Hungary's "orchard", famous for its apples, plums, walnuts, and sour cherries. The nature reserves in the area are ideal for organic farming.
The origins of the business date back to 1997, when they started growing vegetables as a family farm. The one-hectare area quickly expanded, and today they grow fruit and vegetables on 50 hectares. In 2003, they built a cold store and packaging facility with a capacity of 600 tonnes.
In 2004, they switched to organic farming, and since then they have not used chemical fertilizers, synthetic pesticides, or herbicides. Environmental awareness and the preservation of their natural environment are of paramount importance to them.
Since 2005, they have been exporting to European Union countries and Israel, as well as being present on the domestic market. Organic Kingdom Kft. was founded in 2008 for the distribution, processing, and export of organic fruit and vegetables. From the very beginning, they have offered long-term cooperation to local organic growers.
