The history of the Calvo brand began in the Galician town of Carballo, where in 1940 Luis Calvo Sanz founded a small grocery store. Over time, it has become a symbol of quality and tradition in the Spanish canning industry.

In order to maintain the family business, Luis Calvo Sanz decided to take the path of innovation. In 1956, he created a revolutionary machine capable of producing 36 cans of tuna per minute. The milestone was a three-pack of tuna in 1986, with which Calvo achieved great success in Europe.
