Producer information

The Budapest Dairy Company started producing the original Soviet dessert (the Soviet Union already had an ancestor of the dessert filled with a mixture of cottage cheese, butter and sugar, flavoured with vanilla and covered with chocolate, called "glazirovannij szirok") in 1968, after the idea was brought to Hungary during a study trip between the COMECON countries. It was first produced in the Szabolcstej dairy plant in Mátészalka, then production was also started in the Zalkatej dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. After the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatised, and as a result, the production of Túró Rudi became the property of Friesland-Campina.

The Pöttyös brand is still incredibly popular today, as every age group can find their favourite flavour. Pöttyös products mean more than just a delicacy to us Hungarians. They are always with us and always bring a smile to our face, they cheer us up!
